From the Librarian: Anthromancer is a competitive strategy game blending chess-like tactics and poker-like mechanics, where players capture and control cards using a unique 'orientation line' system and unleash powerful abilities through hymn cards. With its dynamic gameplay, strategic depth, and magic-infused twists, Anthromancer offers a fresh and engaging experience for fans of tactical and card-based games alike.
From the Publisher: The centerpiece of Anthromancer is a competitive strategy game called Mercenarium, in which players place and move cards on the board to try and capture their opponents' cards. This game uses a patent-pending 'orientation line' mechanic to designate what player controls a card. This means that the control of a mercenary card (J, Q, K, and A) can be taken from one player by another by 'buying' and pivoting the card, which changes its relative combat strength and alters the battlefield in the process. In addition, a separate stack of cards called hymns can be used to activate powerful and devastating special single-use abilities. The game unfolds like something akin to chess meets poker...with a little bit of magic tossed in.
